Martin Luther: Sinner and Saint

October 2017 marks 500 years since Martin Luther wrote his 95 Theses in protest of widespread corruption in the Catholic Church. Luther's actions started the Protestant Reformation and caused irrevocable political and religious change in Europe. In the 500 years since Luther's Theses, many have come to view Luther as saint-like. He was, however, a complicated figure. discussion about how to do just that. The NICD is a nonpartisan center for advocacy, research, and policy that works to support and engage elected officials, the public, and the media to ensure that civility emerges once again as the glue that binds, repairs, and strengthens our democratic nation.
